Steak, schnitzel and a Sunday roast

The bistro serves 11.30am to 2.30pm and 5pm to 9pm Monday to Thursday, holds lunch until 3pm on Friday, runs straight from 11.30am to 9pm on Saturday, and finishes at 8pm on Sunday. What comes out of it is pub food: steak with chips and salad or mash and veg, schnitzel with a topper if you want one, pizza and pasta, tacos in fish, beef or cauliflower, the Budgie Classic Burger, and a hot roast on Sunday that changes week to week.

On Saturday and Sunday the kitchen also builds a seafood platter for two — a blue swimmer crab and a Moreton Bay bug, 12 king prawns, 6 oysters, torpedo flathead and salt and pepper calamari, with chips, lemon, sauces and a house beer or wine each — for $150. It is ordered and paid for at the bar at least 72 hours ahead. Lago Cucina, the Italian room on Level 1, keeps a separate menu of its own.
